The iPhone 3GS added mobile phone features like multimedia messaging, video recording, and voice dialling. It also featured an improved camera with a resolution of 3.2 megapixels, but there no built-in flash. It’s faster than the 3G; has a better battery life and excels on multimedia quality. The 3GS touchscreen was the best around on its release and the iPhone triggered a huge increase in the number of apps available.
The iPhone 3GS came in white or black, and its display contained a fingerprint-resistant coating to lessen smearing from greasy fingers.
The 3GS' call quality leaves something to be desired and 3G signal reception is patchy. Flash Lite, USB transfer and storage and multitasking are still missing.
Not the same step up from the 3G as that model was from the 2G, but some users considered the upgrade worthwhile because of the increased speed and better battery life. Generally considered the best smartphone around before release of the iPhone 4.
