Vodafone is now selling environmentally-friendly SIM packs in Qatar that are designed to reduce the volume of plastics being discarded and in this way lower Vodafone’s carbon footprint. To achieve this the new SIM card pack is manufactured in polypropylene, which is a recyclable material. The piece for holding the SIM in place has traditionally been made from cardboard but is now made from recycled paper.
Vodafone point out that these eco-friendly changes have not been made at the expense of good product presentation and efficiency either. The SIM box is engraved with their distinctive logo and is light, easy to store and conveniently sized for the customer to re-use for business card storage. Vodafone in Qatar say their new SIM card design is part of ongoing efforts to develop environmentally-friendly products that will contribute towards Qatar’s green credentials and cotribute to a sustainable future for the country. They also hope that such efforts will inspire other indviduals and companies to take positive steps to improve the environment in Qatar.
This latest initiative follows on from others from Vodafone that have included biodegradable scratch cards, a mobile phone recycling programme and recycling of redundant promotional literature.
