A few weeks ago we announced the launch of a mobile phone recycling programme at the Gitex Shopper exhibition in the UAE.
The exhibition proved to be highly successful. Technocare, the Reverse Logistics specialist company who manage the programme say they collected one mobile phone every three minutes at the show.
85% of the phones collected were high-end smart phones. The exhibition helped to raise awareness on the benefits of recycling old mobiles. Visitors were given information on the environmental problems that are caused by irresponsible disposal of mobile phones.
Pramod Kattel from Technocare said: “Our maiden representation at Gitex Shopper has been a resounding success. Apart from significantly exceeding our recycling volume expectations, we also achieved our goal of creating awareness about the environmental benefits of participating in the program. This has given us even more confidence that foneswap is a win win proposition for all involved so we will continue to work more closely with consumers, retailers, vendors and operators in the future.”
Following the success of the exhibition, Technocare is now planning to generate many more programmes that will help consumers to recycle their old mobile phones. It is also in talks with companies from around the world who are interested in rolling out the foneswap mobile phone recycling programme.
